McQuain started her business with a $2,000 loan, three bolts of fabric and a lot of encouragement from her husband.

Now, her company is known worldwide for its workmanship and high quality, especially in the area of aerodynamic silks.

“My business is probably the most satisfying thing I've done in my life, besides raising a family," McQuain said. "More importantly, I've conveyed an important ideal to my granddaughters -- that if you're willing to work hard, there are no limits to what you can accomplish.”
